AKC Canine Good Citizen Training at Dogtown Bakery

Class begins Sunday, 7/12/2026, 6 week course

Level 1: 1pm-2pm

Level 2: 2pm-3pm

Level 3: 3pm-4pm

Our CGC program is offered in three progressive levels—Puppy Foundations (Level 1) CGC Prep (Level 2), and Advanced CGC (Level 3)—each designed to build confidence, communication, and real‑world manners in a calm, controlled environment with expert handler/trainer, Jonathon Simon of Simon Says Dog Training.

Across all levels, handlers learn how to:

• Read and respond to canine body language

• Support their dog through new environments and distractions

• Anticipate behavior and set their dog up for success

• Use gentle, reward‑based cues without force or coercion

• Maintain engagement while interacting with people, dogs, and the environment

• Advocate for their dog’s safety, comfort, and emotional well‑being

Level 1: Puppy Foundations

A warm introduction to manners, socialization, confidence‑building, and early handler skills. Perfect for puppies or newly adopted dogs learning the basics.

Level 2: CGC Prep

Focused training for the 10 AKC CGC test items—loose‑leash walking, polite greetings, calm behavior around other dogs, and reliable obedience in public settings.

Level 3: Advanced CGC 

For dogs ready to take their skills into real‑world environments. This level strengthens impulse control, neutrality, and handler‑dog communication in higher‑distraction scenarios.

CGC training builds a dog who is confident, polite, and predictable, and a handler who is skilled, calm, and in sync with their dog. It’s an excellent foundation for therapy work, service‑dog pathways, advanced obedience, or simply creating a beautifully mannered family companion.
